About This Project
AN EXTRAORDINARY RENOVATION PROJECT

In the very heart of Paris, the renovation of the Beaugrenelle Shopping Center was a huge project requiring as much precision as accuracy to showcase a very modern architectural masterpiece.
To ensure the initial light, transparency and colors effects aiming to immerse visitors in a futuristic atmosphere, the architects Valode & Pistre elaborated a very precise specifications note. The 800m² window was to be covered with both a thermal and anti-intrusion film, whithout altering its decorative properties.

GSDI’ response to this challenge ? A unique solution based on its proven expertise and a close collaboration with one of the major films supplier.
The chosen film – selected from a sample as big as a candy wrapper – was first treated to become adhesive, then tainted ; before undergoing a specific treatment in order to ease its application and to obtain the desired properties (anti-scratch, break-in and thermal protection).

AN EXCEPTIONAL ADAPTATION TO WORKSITE’S CONSTRAINTS

This work, realised under three weeks, required extraordinary logistics.
The careful preparation was done in such a way as to respect the architect’s plans, the glassmaker manufacturing constraints and the film application scheduled by the constructor’s site coordinator. This intricacy, reinforced by the fact that each plane to be wrapped weighed from 20 to 250 kg, involved huge investments in terms of machines, security equipement and specific trainings for GSDI technicians.

Finally, more than 20 pallets of 1,2 tonnes were delivered in a warehouse specifically rented and converted into a GSDI’s workshop !
